The contractor erected a covered pedestrian walkway along the south side at the main entrance to the Watterson Towers in June of 2010 to provide a protected environment for pedestrians while the construction is in progress.

This $0.75 million project was approved by the Board of Trustees in July 31, 2009. The Board of Trustees approved a $1.23 million increase to add all of Watterson Commons Dining Center and the requirement for additional items in Watterson Towers to the project budget on February 19, 2010, bringing the total to $1.98 million. The project involves replacement of the emergency generator serving Watterson Towers and Watterson Commons including full back-up power for Watterson Commons. It is anticipated to be completed in December of 2011.
Farnsworth was the designer for a new emergency generator and enclosure project. The contractor, Anderson Electric, has completed the installation of the new emergency generator as well as the electrical connections to the generator. The designer is currently beginning project close out such as-built drawings and setting up a schedule for the remaining test during spring break.
The construction documents for the generator enclosure were completed and forwarding to Purchasing for review.
Farnsworth consultant is working on the close out documents.
The Watterson Generator enclosure documents were completed and they are in review at Purchasing.

The footings and foundation wall for the new generator have been completed as well as the exterior trenching and conduit installation. The trenches have been backfilled. A new electric manhole has been set. The basket ball and volley-ball courts were opened for student use.
The generator arrived on site on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. A crane was used to unload the generator and set to the enclosure successfully within a short period of time. The south/east parking lots were reopened immediately following that work. Generator has been installed.
The contractor, Anderson Electric, has completed the electrical connections to the new generator. They continue to work on minor work and clean-up to finish up the project.
The Watterson generator enclosure documents are in review at Purchasing.
